Maybe a silly question (but hey I’m no physicist): if particles need us to observe them before they are “actualized,” does that not mean God *isn’t* perceiving them? If God is the great seer/perceiver and is continually perceiving everything and sustaining reality, then how can *we* also affect the particle behavior of the photons/waves in the double slit experiment and so on? Maybe there are different layers/elements of perception and God can see all potentialities of course. Are we co-creating reality with God?
Oh man! This post was SICKKKK dude. I've been following this line of thinking myself for a while, but you just put it in such an articulate manner.
I'm curious if you know who Edward Frenkel is. He's a mathematician/physicist at UC Berkley. He started a podcast called AfterMath somewhat recently where he talk a bit about some of the things you're talking about. He isn't, of course a Christian, at least as far as I know. It would seem however, that science is converging on, potentially, one or two interesting conclusions. One, continued research into some of these areas may strengthen the argument for God. Two, we may still know very little about how any of this works, and we have such an elementary understanding that it's hard to parse out what's meaningful. As a fellow Christian, I feel like the evidence is becoming clearer of the incredible design of our world and consciousness.
As a Traditional Catholic that spent my professional life as a researcher in basic medical science, when I converted nearly a decade ago I enjoyed apologetics using modern science theory, and so Jacob's Ladder extends from God (Perfect Truth, Justice, Order, Mercy, Love, ..) to this reality we in at whatever Jacob's Ladder Level we distant from God (and so some unTruth, inJustice, disOrder, ...), Ladder through this reality down to Corruption, Chaos, full; unTruth, inJustice, disOrder, .., and the Quantum Firment that God Willed into creation, within this Firment is God both dead and alive on His cross, depending on our Faith, alive to guide us up ladder with Faith, or dead without Faith and we endlesslt drown in Quantum Firment where every thought, impulse, whim, .. , that crosses our mind is made real and we endlessly tormented by our imPerfections without a Holy Perfect protector. .. as an example.
Let us imagine that we exist in life by Eating Jesus' body and drinking His Blood - that He Hosts us within Himself sharing His Body, mind, soul, perhaps like we as dream avatar and He the Dreamer, dreaming us as well as our reality. Like our own dreams that only what we focus on exists, and any weirdness is not noticed, and other dream people we somehow animate, so they are somehow part of the We the Dreamer.
Consciousness would be deterministic and one dimensional if our biological brains were isolated, but instead are linked across those versions of worlds most similar to ours, and they are to those most similar to theirs on out and away in many dimensions.
There is much more, like the Scripture is absolutely literal truth, yet in the gospel 4 books some events are described in 2 or more, with the Passion in all 4 yet testifying different events. Here we might argue that each version is from 4 consecutive Jacob's Ladder Level reality, that at each level His dead moves Him down one level and He is Conceived anew, grows up, ministers, sacrifices, and Dies on His Cross, then down again, descending to Hell. At each Level He Leaves His human body in readiness to Ascend into and Resurrect with all dead in Faith of Christ carried up with Him each Level upward towards God.
So, the Dreamer only supports that candle when it is in your fields of senses, and leave and return the candle is re-realized and changed the proper way for that length of time gone.
Depending on the intent of your excellent research and writing (apropos above) were you to carry out these insights into "real time - in persona" the Templeton Foundation offers grants to do exactly this. I have been seeking collaboration on my own "theology", but admittedly also have other operating protocols in my office. I simply wanted to offer it to your attention, after having read your excellent essay. /s/ https://www.templeton.org/
I just initiated an account and started doing research here for possible granting opportunities, there are plenty. This is an option, if available in time, I may exercise to pursue. If after visiting the site and you decide to pursue a grant topic, you are welcome to contact me (direct messaging to Substack or sschoellmann@gmail.com) to cheer you on. I am putting part time effort here on a "theology" I have pursued over a lifetime, and as I mentioned, I still have a separate publishing agenda here on Substack apart from the Templeton foundation. I write this in good spirit and wish you well on your continued work, regards. /s/

actually SUCH a good question! this is something thats in my follow up of answering some Qs and objections.
But ill say this as to not leaving you hanging - we observe the function, not the "being", at least that is how it seems on a very basic level.
Thank you! I don’t know what you mean exactly but look forward to the follow up!

A wonderful read, thank you!
The name of Frenkel rings a bell and I cannot recall why! I will have to look him up.
Thanks for reading and giving encouragement!
Theres so much more beneath this that I hope to dive into, in particular with Dark Energy/Matter.
Thanks again!
Very interesting way to prove God, unifying modern science with theology.
I must suggest the many-worlds interpretation of Quantum Theory where the Observer is also a waveform and entangled with the world(s) waveform. As described here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Many-worlds_interpretation

Very nice. Are you familiar with the Templeton Foundation?
John Templeton? only by overhearing about it. Why?

I'm always open to expanding on my research (especially on these specific topics). Do you have an affiliation with them?
